Deceased credit card

Hello , hope I’m posting in the right place ... My sister unfortunately passed away 12 months ago from cancer and being single and only in her early 30s - had me (her only sibling) down on her will as executor and beneficiary ... My question is , we notified the bank within a month of her passing . They continued to charge her interest and late fees for a further 4 months . Unbeknown to me ... until now when the solicitor has provided me with the statements and asked if I’m okay with paying the owed amount out of the estate. My sister owes about 5k but since the account was meant to be closed there’s now a further few hundred dollars on there from fees and charges that came out each month AFTER she died. I know it’s morally wrong, but are banks really allowed to do this ? She also had a life benefit policy attached to the credit card which they have knocked back due to her medical condition being ‘pre existing’. She hadn’t been deemed terminally ill 4 years ago and hence why she agreed to taking out this $50 a month policy when she got the credit card. I know it’s abit ‘he said she said’ but is there anyway to fight back at the bank about this ? At the end of the day I’m most pissed about the charges AFTER she died, i know it’s only a small amount of money but it just seems wrong that this is legal in Australia ! I’m only young myself and obviously not experienced in this field and any info or similar stories would be a big help... please be kind !!
