Asked about Pumping Breast Milk during Job Interview

My wife currently holds a "on-call" position and we have a 7 month old son. She has applied for a full time position with the same employer and had a interview this morning.

During the interview, she was asked how often she would need to pump breast milk and how long it would take her each time. She replied about every 3-4 hours and 15 to 20 minutes each time. The interviewer did not seem happy with the answer and also stated that it seems to be a lot of time and she would have to clock out and use PTO time.

I am unsure if the requirement to clock out and use PTO time is legal. But the bigger issue may be her not getting the job because of her need to pump. When she told me this, my immediate thought was to file with the EEOC, but I suppose we need to wait to see if she get the job first.

Are these questions during the interview discriminatory? Was any laws violated by them asking? If she is not selected for the position, should we file a charge with the EEOC?

Her on-call position and the full time position she is applying for are both non-exempt, located in Michigan, and the employer has more than 50 employees. The interview consisted of my wife, and her two supervisors but no one from the HR department.
