I want to say first that my last company I worked for also had a physical incentive that lowered my rate, but they had no access to my test results, I simply had to have a physical once a year. I started working for a private company in SC that offers health insurance, the plan charges from $27-97 a week from me the employee based on how you “score” on a physical, since I started recently they are charging me $37 weekly until the results come. If you opt out of the “voluntary” physical then you automatically have to pay $97 as if you scored the worst possible results. What’s more is the scoring system is very dumb. You get a possible of 100 points, and you lose 20 off the bat if you test positive for nicotine, waist criteria is 40 inches you get 4 points, 40.01 inches or more and get 0 points. Blood sugar is so weird too, 99 is 20 points and 126 is 0 points. Seems fishy if not discriminatory. Is it legal to call this voluntary when if you choose not to you are charged more? I know SC has a specific law that makes it illegal for an employer to require nicotine testing, not much about the other stuff. Thanks in advance
