My father died leaving me as his only heir but my stepmom isn’t okay with me having his stuff

My father just recently passed away two days ago and I came home (SA, Texas) from going to school. I’m my fathers only legal heir being his only child and seeing that him and my stepmom never legally married (formally or informally). All his assets were under only his name (several vehicles, house, other small stuff like a fuck ton of tools, etc.). I’m aware of how title transfer of the vehicles works and I’m currently working on that, but the house is a huge area of question for me. My stepmom can no way pay for it on her own even if she does receive ownership of it, but in the chance that ownership comes to me since I’m his only heir (again not sure how this works), I would have to sell it because I can’t afford it either and I don’t have the time to worry about it since I go to school in another city. If my ex-stepmom and I do go to court over ownership of this house, what legal grounds could she potentially stand on? From what I’m aware of, she receives state aid for being a single mother of 2 minors and 2 adults who still live at home, she and him never filed any legal marriage paperwork whether that be formal or informal, and ownership of every major asset excluding her vehicle was under his name. Any advice is very appreciated because I’ve never been in this situation before and she is already formulating a plan against me with her family and I’m just over here kinda clueless.
