Tried to buy a house. Seller and seller's realtor both screwed up, and now I'm homeless.

I sold my house and had a signed agreement to purchase one the same day that I closed on my old house.

The day prior to closing on the new house, my realtor was told that the seller was not ready to move out and I couldn't take possession. Later that day, he was also told that the wrong payoff amount had been submitted to the title company and we couldn't close on the house either.

This has rendered my wife and I homeless, and we're stuck living in a hotel until this can be sorted out. The realtor of the seller had been extremely slow to respond to my realtor, sometimes going a full day without responding to calls. He says that the seller is refusing to pay for our hotel bills and the costs of our homelessness.

Do we have any case for compensation from the seller and the sellers realtor?

Edit: this is in Michigan.
