After roughly 3 years since I found this felony on my criminal record, it's been resolved as of today!
After trying a variety of things, mainly contacting everyone I could on my own (clerk, judges, probation people)who would answer me, I finally broke down and hired a lawyer as my efforts were fruitless.
It ended up being a longer fight as they would not accept that someone could put a failure to maintain lane ticket into the system as felony drug possession thus another year of investigative work needed to be done to resolve it as apparently I needed to prove my innocence. They were sure they were right and the actual records just needed to be found.
Basically my lawyer had to come up with all the evidence he could find that I was never even charged for the felony that was on the record and the only thing I did get convicted of on the date in the record was the failure to maintain lane ticket.
He ended up documenting every time I've ever had contact with the law including contacting the police department that issued my tickets and got together with the judge, DA and Clerk to review everything he collected and compare it with their records.
They finally acknowledged that their investigation turned up nothing and with his meticulous reconstruction of every instance where I interacted with the law throughout my life, they agreed to remove the record from GCIC.
I have confirmed I'm no longer listed as a felon in the GCIC but I haven't checked outside agencies. I guess I'll deal with them as they come if they have the felony in their databases but the important part is to the Law I'm good again.
Thanks for all the advice and stuff, I took it all to heart and did most of the suggestions (if the lawyer didn't work the next stop was ACLU and the media which I wasn't looking forward to).
It's good to have rights again. Should I have a future issue, I know where to come. Thanks everyone!
