The police broke down my front door and another locked door in my home, despite finding nothing, they won't compensate for the damaged property, is this legally right?

I wasn't home for 4 days and came home to find my door open, and they left no letter or evidence it was them. I rang reporting a burglary and was told it was a search warrant. This happened in Ireland. They also broke my mother's bedroom door, which was locked and the wooden frame is left completely cracked and the door handle is taken off.
