So I'm really stuck with this situation and want to find a solution that doesn't result in everyone in my house paying for every guests but also doesn't get me evicted. So what happened was my girlfriend was making toast and there was mess that wasn't her's on the bench top where she was making her toast, then my roommate who I don't know very well sees her making toast and the mess and assumes it's her's. What does he do? Ask her? Nope. Ask me? No again. Go directly to the landlord to tell on her? Yep. So he tells my landlord “she's always here” “she always makes a mess” “she never cleans up” which is untrue. My girlfriend usually stays here two to three times a week and my roommate has told my landlord that she has been living here for 7 months straight which is false. He pays the bills so he's wanting me to pay for all the “time” she's been here. I convinced him not to charge me but he wants 10 bucks a night for her to stay here. As a tenant I think I should have the right to have guests over and not have to pay for that but I do see he's point of view. I never signed any contract nor was I told of any restrictions on having guests staying over until now and I honestly cannot afford it, but I don't wanna get kicked out.
Please help reddit, thanks I'm in Australia
