Hi all. I’m 17, I live in St. Louis. I have a couple things to address because I need help with this. I’ve been told by a team of nurses, a childcare worker, my therapist, a hospital therapist, and my counselor that I have bipolar disorder. And judging from my observation of my couple months to maybe years, I definitely agree with them. However my mother, who zealously follows New Age religion, does not believe I have anything wrong with me. She thinks it is my diet (which is kind of fine, I’m also in track which rules out physical work to make myself feel better), I’m not drinking enough water (again, track), I’m not breathing correctly (she’s a “breathworker”), and continues to think I do drugs (the only thing I do now is smoke). She also is severely opposing to modern medication and hospital procedures. For example: I haven’t had a flu shot or checkup since I was in elementary. She relies on natural remedies. This being said, she is not letting me get treatment for my mental health which I believe is extremely dangerous and irresponsible and is reckless towards my safety. What do I do? Is there a legal basis I can use to oppose her?
