Long story short: my parents have been fighting for years. They were fighting. He grabbed her by the shoulders shaking her. I turned him around and punched him. Police in my house interviewing parents. What do I do I’m freaking out I don’t know what to do
Edit. I’m sorry thinks we’re happening I didn’t know what to post. I’m in New Jersey
Update 1: police just left my house. I need to know what to do next Incase I need to in the future. I’ll answer any questions I can.
Hey guys, I'm in a pretty furious mood currently so sorry if this is improperly using punctuation. About an hour ago Mom busted into my room crying and not able to say what was wrong. Now this is pretty rare except for very very bad occasions. From everything I've gathered my Dad went to our back yard to check on our dogs who were barking rather loudly. Now this isn't a rare occurrence considering we live next to a highway and they can hear the vehicles driving by and there are also "stray" not exactly stray but unattended dogs roaming around barking and howling. So dad went out back to check on them only to see three large dogs had broke into our chicken yard slaughtering our chickens. We know who's dogs these are and know that they aren't paid much attention to. One of which when Mom worked at the nearby store would always come onto the front porch covered in ticks, thorns, and matted all to hell. The owners of these dogs just let them roam around and really don't give a shit about them. Sorry about the cursing. Anyway Dad got out and was pulling out the dogs but by the time he got there it was too late. 5/6 chickens were dead and 1 had it's wings and 1 leg were torn to shreds so dad put it down. I understand that they are chickens but they've always been way more than that to us. It's a regular occurrence for either of my parents or I to be out there giving them more feed and having conversations with them and them "talking back" to us. What really hurts though is that they were Easter gifts from my grandparents to me a few years back. My grandmother has been gone for 2 years in this coming August. Mom is still really sensitive about Granny and anything that was given/discussed with her. She also was the one who named them. Anyway before I ramble on anymore is there any thing we could do legally to get the owners to actually take care of their own dogs like people should? We live in Washington State but the laws may be different due to us living on a Native American reservation. Any ideas would be appreciated. By the way this isn't a first offense on these dogs. These dogs also killed the owners grandmothers chickens a few years back.
Hey Everybody,
I was at a bar last night and talking with this woman, when her "ex-boyfriend" came up to me and sucker punched me. He was thrown out of the bar and arrested.
I didn't realize it until this morning, but he chipped my tooth, and it is very sensitive to eat or drink anything.
I did not file a police report, or make a statement to the police at all, as I was never asked. Is it possible to claim damages and have him pay for my dental bills? How does that process work? Will it cost me more money to try and get the dental bills paid by him?
Thank you in advance!
I don't want to sound like an ungrateful brat, so I'll keep this as simple as possible... I'm 17 years old, and my parents forced me to get braces, and now I have to pay for them. The payment is $132USD a month, and they are also making me pay for my dirtbike, which they bought on loan and are making me pay. The rate on the bike is around 1-2% which is nice but I pay $200 a month for it which isn't so nice.
I don't want to have to sell the bike, it is the only way I get to spend quality time with my dad and also relieves stress, which I tend to build up a lot of and have huge breakdowns over, which I haven't told anyone about, until this post.
We have a business in which we breed dogs, and that was the source of my income, until they suddenly started saying the money that was being placed in my account is not mine, and when I got low on money, which inevitably happens when you make hardly any money and pay $332 a month for things that you shouldn't have to pay for, they got upset, fired me, and then took my debit card away. The taking the debit card away kind of makes sense to me, but firing me and forcing me to get another job doesn't make sense.
Here's my main issue. I am not allowed to work Sundays, and I do many many extracurricular activities. I am in marching band, in the fall, and jazz in the spring, and both of these take most of my time up. Jazz is about to end and I will have time afterwards, but currently I am confused on how to find a job and find the time to work where I can at least breakeven every month and not have to quit band, or stop going to church, or stop going to mutual, or the early morning seminary I attend.
I just made really good friends, about a couple months ago after living in my area for seven years, and I am also worried that I won't be able to spend time with them... I had some friends before but never hung out frequently.
I have a good work ethic and have over 2300 hours of exercising leadership positions in band, scouts, and my church, and would love to work a real job for once, but I don't know where to start with any of this.
I understand that most of this isn't entirely legal help but anything anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated. I have also never posted here so I am sorry if I broke any rules, I've only occasionally read full posts here and this is the only place I can think of that may be able to help. (Sorry for the length too.)
Were my parents legally allowed to give me money, and then force me to make payments on things they made me get, and then say it wasn't my money and fire me? I am pretty sure I worked for that money but I don't know anything about this stuff...
Edit:
They wouldn't let me get another job or my license at 16, or I wouldn't entirely be in the boat where I have no money saved or an unreliable job. I'm hopefully getting my license Tuesday, but I still won't have a job yet.
Edit #2:
I am now aware that I will still be doing what they had me doing with the dog business, but for some reason they are going to pay my brother instead, even though he does hardly any work at a horrificly terrible quality. (Thats just a rant note)
On March 4th my daughter was banned from using the girls' restroom in her school over her presentation on an intersex condition, PAIS, that ended with her explaining that she has this disorder and was also born with male parts as well as female parts. Two days later I asked for help here and on /r/intersex. The help has been great and the school removed the ban around two weeks ago, so my daughter has been using the appropriate bathroom rather than using the staff one.
So around last week she had a bad encounter in a restroom after lunch period where another girl called her a "he-she" and a "freak" and threw a tantrum about her using the women's restroom. The girl likely told her parents about this, who likely passed onto other parents, and now they are again pushing again for my daughter to be banned from using the women's restroom.
A few days ago my brother, who has been aware of the fact that my daughter is intersex as well, forwarded a link to a group on Facebook named "Keep (school name)'s Bathrooms Safe!" that was completely targeting my daughter, with her name included on the posts. The posts were absolutely vile and heartbreaking, but what worries me the most were these two posts.
I'm already filing a restraining order against the nastier folk, but I want your help here again for two reasons.
I googled what ADF means and what I got was a conservative christian lawyer organization. I am worried that they will be able to sue the school and force my daughter to use the boy's facilities and sports teams, where the second is where she worries the most being that she does extremely well in soccer and that it's her best chance to get an athletic scholarship for the future.
Even without their legal threats in mind, since these parents are outright encouraging their children to hurt my daughter then I have no idea what recourse to take. I've already forwarded these screenshots without censoring them to the school administration so they know the students more likely to bully her. I want to know the best way to help my daughter so she would be safe from these horrid people.
I'm planning on contacting InterACT as they probably know how to handle this situation the best, but I'm still worried about the safety and wellbeing of my daughter in her school.
(Florida) So I am renting a house, that has a separate guest house with the understanding that the owner would come stay here once a year during the winter. It was smooth for almost a year until he started to rent that guesthouse out, but whatever I signed a lease that specifically outlined what my property was (the main house) so he can do whatever he wants with the guesthouse and yard.
My issue is that a couple of months ago one of his buddies arrived in a trailer, parked the trailer in front of the house and he is always lurking around the yard and plugging stuff into my patio outlets. (The patio deck is in my highlighted area) I complained to landlord but he is kind of a hippy and said thats his friend that helped him built the house and should be welcomed. This guy looks like a creepy pedofile and scares my girlfriend. I get a bad vibe from this guy he has a staring problem. And he has no right to use the electricity that I pay for. What can i do to get rid of this joker?
So, my divorce was finalized about two weeks ago. My wife works at a 911 call center and her boyfriend that she’s been living with is keeping me from having any communication with my kids. He says that if I want to speak to them I have to email him and arrange the call through him. Also, any emails I send my ex about whatever are automatically forwarded to him. There is nothing in the divorce orders that keeps either of us from talking to the children at any time. He has just taken this upon himself to do. He has also emailed me an 8 page email with pics of me that he made into memes. Calling me a drunk and such. Not the case at all, but that is neither here nor there. Is there anything I can do to keep him from keeping me from my children?
Would you trust a robot to look after the people who brought you into this world?
This April Fool’s, we decided to take things a little more seriously and shed some light on a growing, pervasive issue that has affected the community of r/Games and gaming communities as a whole. In recent times, it’s come to our attention that what has been intended to be a forum for the potential spread of knowledge and involvement in video games has instead become a battleground of conflicting ideas. Ordinarily, this isn’t an issue; discussion by its very nature is certain to bring argument, but when that argument descends into vitriolic attacks between individuals on a regular basis with no chance at deescalation, that’s when, put simply, something’s got to give.
Though certain memes (such as “gamers rise up”) surrounding gaming are largely viewed as a humorous interpretation of a mindset, at the core of the humor is a set of very serious issues that affect all gaming enthusiasts. By showing disdain or outright rejecting minority and marginalized communities, we become more insular. In this, we lose out on the chance to not only show compassion to these people, but also the chance to grow our own community and diversify the demographics of those involved in it. Whether it’s misogyny, transphobia, homophobia, racism or a host of other discriminatory practices, now is the time to stymie the flow of regressive ideas and prevent them from ever becoming the norm.
At r/Games, our community is becoming increasingly responsible for perpetuating a significant amount of these combative and derogatory schools of thought. We remove those comments, we ban the perpetrators, but the issue still persists at a fundamental level: the notion that it’s okay or acceptable to ridicule and demonize traditionally disenfranchised and marginalized members in the gaming community. This is not just an issue in r/Games or on Reddit alone; this is an issue deeply embedded in the ranging depths of the internet, frequently in communities that center around the discussion of games.
Unfortunately, this inflammatory content is not an infrequent occurrence. The condescending, dismissive, vindictive and pessimistic attitudes we see in our day to day activity is troubling, especially when those interactions involve harassing or outright targeting regularly discriminated communities. It’s not uncommon for us to see the real issues surrounding these communities be trivialized, derided out of ignorance, or worse, for the sake of entertainment.
To that end, we want to show you, the community, what we mean by “what we see”. These are some of the more awful comments we see regarding transphobia, homophobia, islamophobia, racism, misogyny, pro-pedophilia/pro-rape, and vitriolic personal attacks against other users. These kinds of comments occur on a daily basis. We’ve compiled an entire album of examples of the horrible things people say on this subreddit. From bigotry to vitriol, this album merely scratches the surface of the magnitude of the problem.
In the interest of providing examples, we elected to remove the usernames from these comments; instead, our intent is to show the stark reality that we face on a daily basis in the overall effort to provide a welcoming and responsive community. Preventing the cultivation of bigotry means giving it no ground to go to, and as a whole leave only space for those who would respectfully participate. We must closely examine our own communities, in an effort to encourage acceptance and inclusion, to foster a healthy community in which we value empathy and respect.
Despite the strife that’s both within and caused by our community, there are a multitude of opportunities to prove that we can come together and be a more wholesome, accepting community that exists on a single core idea: enjoying and discussing video games together. Though the industry as a whole has suffered a great deal of trials and tribulations, we also are fortunate enough to be at a point in time in which there seem to be a glut of fantastic games, from major AAA titles down to near-anonymous indie projects that come out of nowhere.
So let’s revel in what’s available to us, and also appreciate the myriad of backgrounds that we as gamers come from. Our differences in experiences comprise the diversity in the content that we consume, and by allowing ourselves to appreciate those differences, we change our perspectives and interpretations; this applies not only in games, but life as a whole.
Let’s not let the good eggs go unnoticed, though: There are plenty of you who, as members of the community, want to take care of one another. Sometimes this means identifying when conversation becomes confrontation, when discussion gets out of hand and turns to name-calling, slurs or other degrading language. To you, we say thank you. You’re what keep us going, you’re who we want to see more of, and you’re everything that is the potential for a strong, open community for those who love and enjoy video games the way we do.
It’s also important to recognize the opportunities not afforded to everyone, as well as the resources available to give them a helping hand. So this April Fool’s, we’re also asking you to take into consideration the idea of helping these organizations out. These folks have made it their mission to represent and benefit those who still face their own challenges, obstacles and prejudices, and any assistance they can get is another step forward for their cause.

14 years ago my brother got his girlfriend pregnant in high school. They graduated and ended up living together at her parents house. No more than a few months after my niece was born it was soon discovered that my bother’s girlfriend was cheating on him so he took my niece and ended up moving back with my family.
After about 3 years of raising her with us, he got a new girlfriend and decided to move in with her, leaving my niece to be cared for by my parents. My parents raised her feeling sorry for her since her mom and dad had left her so they spoiled her a lot. My sister and I did our best to help with raising her and talking with her.
We noticed that she has had a lot of sadness and anger in her, my mom has even found razor blades hidden in her room that she’s been cutting herself with.
My bother recently decided to take her back now that she is 14 and blames her mood swings and tantrums as just a means of trying to get attention, her going through puberty and a result of my parents spoiling her. My sister and I think that she needs therapy because there are things she not saying that maybe she can say to a therapist who can help her.
My sister and I are 22 and 24 years old and we grew up with my niece and she’s like a little sister to us. We think she needs therapy but our brother is refusing to get her help. My niece has told us that she wants a therapist and has even talked to her teacher about it.
I want to know if there’s a way to get her help without my brother. We keep pleading him but he won’t go through with it. We are both working so my sister and I are willing to pay for it. My brother is her legal guardian so there’s not much we can do without his consent. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
TL;DR: Brother left my niece for my parents to raise for 11 years, took her back and now refuses to get her therapy that my sister and I think she needs because if mood swings and her cutting herself.
Please use this thread to discuss whatever you've been playing lately (old or new, any platform, AAA or indie). As usual, please don't just list the names of games as your entire post, make sure to elaborate with your thoughts on the games. Writing the names of the games in bold is nice, to make it easier for people skimming the thread to pick out the names.
Please also make sure to use spoiler tags if you're posting anything about a game's plot that might significantly hurt the experience of others that haven't played the game yet (no matter how old or new the game is).
Since this thread is likely to fill up quickly, consider sorting the comments by "new" (instead of "best" or "top") to see the newest posts.

This just happened Friday, I had been employed at this company in NYC for 11 months and was very good at my job. The day before I was sick and had taken the wrong type of cold medicine by accident (the drowsy kind) so a few times during the day I had dozed off at my desk. The next day I was let go for drug use, even though I had explained the situation. They didnt have me take a drug test and I recieved nothing in writing explaining why I was let go, or even that I was let go at all. All they did was ask for my key card and ask me to leave. The only reason I didnt call out sick that day was due to a large deal I was trying to close to hit my bonus. My question here is do I have any legal recourse here?
A year or so ago we sold my girlfriends HHR. It was on its last limb and sold it to a family who told us they were going to scrap it for parts. Here’s the kicker: we forgot to take off our license plates when we sold the car. Fast forward to today and we have received a towing bill from some random police department who found the car on the side of the highway. Now for the twist: the car that was towed isn’t the car we sold the family a year ago. Different color and different VIN and we can prove it. So my question is: will it be worth it to fight and try avoid paying the towing bill? Or since the plates on the car are technically ours are we gonna be stuck footing the bill?
Edit: I forgot my location. Kansas City, MO. The Kansas highway patrol is the law enforcement agency who is billing us.
So I’m a Sophomore in college and have been living with a randomly paired roommate who I believe has some form of special needs. If the room is messy he gets into some serious anger fits where he will scream and yell at me about not cleaning up and then proceed to throw all of my stuff around the room. This lasts around 20 minutes and he always apologises profusely and cleans everything up and says it won’t happen again.
Just yesterday he had another crazy anger fit and took my watch off my desk and flushed it down the toilet and proceeded to scream hysterically. The watch was quite an expensive Rolex passed down from my father from his father so it has a lot of significance within the family. I’ve tried calling the school and sewage system but I’ve had no luck yet in retrieving it.
I have moved rooms and spoken to the RA but they have not really offered any significant advice. I have not spoken to my roommate yet as I am both too angry and scared to approach him. I have not spoken to my father yet as I know it will complete devastate him.
I honestly have no idea how to approach this and any help would be appreciate it. What’s the best course of action here?

Hi all, hoping someone can offer some advice. I moved out of my flat, at the end of my tenancy. I forgot to cancel my standing order for the rent, so I paid an extra £780 pounds that wasn’t owed. The landlord lives in Australia. I live in London. He’s ignoring my emails asking about when I’ll get the money back. He’s always been quick to demand money owed but very slow to return owed money (it took him 6 weeks to return my deposit!). Any advice of my next steps? He’ll make it as difficult as possible. This is essentially theft! So mad. Thanks
It kinda pisses me off a bit, but I can’t find anything, so maybe this is legal. I recently turned 18 and work a 9 hour shift. I had to take one of my 2 10 minute breaks an hour after I started, but was told I had to continue to take front counter and drive thru orders while on break.
Is this legal? (Washington State)
I just made an reddit account to ask for help about this. I'm kind if freaking out. I'll try to keep it short because my english isn't amazing.
Pretty much I've been in a WhatsApp group with a few of my friends for some years now, and I'd say everyone in it are good friends of mine I know well. Also we're all minors, if that's important. A few minutes ago a girl I've known for almost 5 years send an 'illegal picture´ (I think we all know what I mean) in the group, in the form of an WhatsApp sticker. I honestly feel disgusted and I have no idea what to do. I think her phone might have been stolen or something, but on the other hand she has a tendency to send shocking things to people, nothing like this though. I really don't know what to do right now.
Am I punishable for this? I'm thinking about talking to a teacher or something but I don't really want to go to the police because she's such a good friend of mine, and I know she probably just doesn't understand the consequenses.
EDIT: She just said her boyfriend took her phone and send it.
Recently read the news about NASA preparing a helicopter to be used on Mars. Just a little doubt how they are going to create enough thrust to propel and lift the copter?
